Congratulations John McManus

Since taking leadership of the OPS-1 project team at the Ichthys Onshore LNG Construction site in the Northern Territory, Australia, Project Director John McManus has built a strong workforce with a reputation for delivering client outcomes. His unwavering drive for excellence has become a cornerstone for the success of the project.

John is an inspiring leader to the 176 employees at OPS-1 in Darwin.

He and the team are usually first on site in the morning and last to leave at night – and work tirelessly to deliver a wide range of operations and maintenance services for the project, including everything from construction of temporary site buildings to lighting, cleaning, oversight of the electrical and power distribution systems, quarantine and pest control and temporary Power Plant Services.

John regularly walks the construction site to see what’s going well and where improvement is needed. He collaborates with his team and the wider workforce on a daily basis and empowers them to find new and innovative ways of delivering for our client. During his time on the project, annual staff turnover has dropped from over 50 percent to less than 12.5 percent.

By focusing on the client’s needs, he’s nearly doubled the value of the contract from its original forecast and delivered longevity for the OPS-1 workforce team. And he’s led the project to an awardwinning safety performance with 2 million hours lost time injury free. That’s an outstanding outcome.
