Congratulations Dan Rolls

After taking on the role of Improvement Works Manager, overseeing the design and construction of projects for the Ventia Boral Amey Joint Venture, Dan Rolls devised a range of clever ways to extend his client’s fixed budget for maintenance works across 1000km of road in South Queensland.

First, Dan and his team reviewed the schedule of works and packaged similar types of design to eliminate duplication. Next, he outsourced the drafting work to a new supplier to reduce overall cost of design – all without compromising on our client’s requirements. These seemingly small initiatives led to big savings for our client, with overall project design costs now significantly less than the industry standard.

In fact, last year alone, despite a larger package of works being undertaken, the team have funnelled more than $1.75 million of savings back into other projects.

They have also been able to invest in new projects, such as resurfacing a 900m road and building a pedestrian refuge island on a busy road in Beenleigh. This has truly delivered on our purpose of making infrastructure work for the community, by creating safer conditions for the local children and elderly residents.

The impact of these savings will result in continuous improvement of the road network each year – which ultimately benefits our clients and the community.

And, having established a reputation for creating value for our clients, the Improvement Works team are now winning much more work – three times more in fact!
