Congratulations Charles Grimison, John Lucas, Annette Nolan and Danielle Toase

With Per-and Poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) an emerging contamination issue affecting many communities across Australia, our new PFAS team have quickly established themselves at the forefront of research and innovation for remediation of contaminated sites.

PFAS substances contain strong chemical bonds and are extremely hard to break down and therefore very difficult to clean up. While they’ve been progressively phased out in Australia since around 2010, PFAS can still be found in many products and locations today – including fire-fighting foams, Teflon, Scotchguard, clothes, carpet, landfill, sewage treatment plants and industrial surface coatings.

In dealing with this important issue, the PFAS team’s enterprising attitude has seen collaboration with clients, industry and researchers to bring successful PFAS site remediation outcomes to life.

The team’s flagship project is the development and design of an innovative, proprietary PFAS soil washing technology, leveraging North American technology, and European manufacturing capability.

PFAS Environmental/Remediation Technical Manager, Charles Grimison commented, “I am proud to work within such a dedicated and committed team. We really believe in what we do, we’re really passionate about our work and excited at the impact it will have for local communities.”

The team have now established a Ventia Laboratory in Newcastle which will be a hub for internal research and treatability trials, providing more opportunities to support our clients and lead the charge in innovative treatment of PFAS contaminants.
