PROACTIVE LEADERSHIP DRIVES SAFETY CULTURE

When it comes to the safety of the people he leads, Troy has tunnel vision. Troy leads our Incident Response and civil teams on Sydney’s Lane Cove Tunnel and M2 Hills Motorway (LCT/M2) contract. His personal dedication to engaging our people around the ‘safety first’ message is resonating with the team.

From the outset, Troy recognised the importance of safety talks to help reduce the number and severity of incidents. His weekly safety toolbox meetings are getting the message through. They are open to the team, our client, subcontractors and third parties – and Troy successfully drives engagement from all.

At each meeting, Troy focuses on a single critical risk, discusses lessons learned within Ventia and the broader industry, and seeks active engagement from all.

Since the team was mobilised 12 months ago, safety metrics have continued to improve, and employees are regularly participating in pre-start briefings and stopping to think before they undertake work activities.

By taking the initiative and demonstrating his own high level of care for the team’s safety and physical and mental wellbeing, Troy is having a genuine impact on the LCT/M2 team culture.

Troy and the team have received widespread recognition from the client, peers and members of the public for the level of professionalism and care they receive.
