SHOWING INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Alex Coughlan – SHEQ Officer, qualified marine biologist and passionate supporter of environmental causes – is making an impact. The Gateway Motorways Services (GMS) team in Brisbane speak highly of Alex’s fresh approach to her role and her proactive approach to improving the business.

Although quite new to the industry, Alex was quick to identify a way to improve engagement with the local community around road safety and developed a suite of information, including pamphlets and general business marketing materials, that the team could distribute at events. Alex has also proactively created opportunities for the GMS team to engage with local communities.

“At a local school fete earlier this year, she facilitated team demonstrations and road user discussions around road safety etiquette, incident response capabilities and plant functionality,” said GMS General Manager Simon Kirkpatrick.

“Alex is a very talented researcher,” Simon added. “This became evident both through the development of this road safety collateral and during a recent contract renewal process where she identified three areas where the business could expand its core service and provide value for the client.”

Alex’s research focused on opportunities in the areas of security services, vehicle towage and abandoned vehicle management and retention.
