LEADING SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS OUTCOMES

Alexa Ford’s high energy and forthright approach is driving sustainable business outcomes for our company, our client and local communities across Western Australia.

Alexa is the business manager of the Statewide Electrical Services contract which was awarded to our Venture Smart joint venture in 2018. The contract is for the delivery of maintenance and capital works projects for critical road network electrical infrastructure, such as traffic signals, roadway lights and electronic school zone signs, across the West Australian road network.

Since the project launch, Alexa has worked closely with her colleagues to identify ways to reduce project costs, improve profitability and realise her vision of success for the project team.

Alexa sets a high bar for herself and the team. She will readily question the status quo or challenge the views of others and, equally, is quick to recognise strong individual and team performance.

Her approach has helped the team achieve excellent outcomes in three key areas:

  1. Financial management. Alexa has developed and implemented a cost reduction plan which will see substantial savings on the project by mid-2020. This is complemented by a plan to improve margins.
  2. The Electrical Capital Works (ECW) pipeline. Alexa worked with the ECW team to set up a rolling eight-month work pipeline. This gives the client clear visibility over its capital works schedule and spend.
  3. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement and participation. Alexa’s commitment to local engagement and participation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and businesses is realising early wins in both employment and business outcomes.

No doubt, more achievements lie ahead as Alexa energetically pursues the long-term vision for the project.
