In recognition of their outstanding achievements, our 2019 Ventia Award winners were given the opportunity to make a difference to causes close to their hearts.

Each of the winning teams and individuals – those named as our ‘most outstanding’ finalists – were invited to select a charity to receive a financial donation from our company. Our winners were asked to choose charities which resonated with them personally and aligned with Ventia’s values.

The charities selected provide support across a broad range of causes, including drought-affected rural communities, the environment and individuals and families experiencing disadvantage, isolation or health issues. Notably, two of the chosen organisations are focused on mental health and wellbeing.

Ventia donated a combined $10,000 to the 10 nominated charities: Auckland City Mission, Blue Hope, Bush Heritage Australia, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, MATES in Construction, McGrath Foundation, Rural Aid, St Kilda Mums, The Fred Hollows Foundation, and Women’s Community Shelters.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE CHARITY

A further $5,000 was donated to the charity voted by you as our People’s Choice.

This year’s People’s Choice charity was Rural Aid, a charity which supports farmers and rural communities in times of drought and other natural disasters.

The charity was nominated by Visionstream’s Brent Devin who was the winner of the Ventia Brand Award – Putting Safety and Health Above All Else.

On our travels through rural Australia, we meet a lot of wonderful people who always welcome us into their towns while we install and upgrade essential wireless services.

Through his work on wireless projects in regional and sometimes remote communities in Queensland, Brent sees firsthand the challenges experienced by farmers and their families in rural Australia. He also knows the positive impact the support of charities like Rural Aid can have within a community.

“On our travels through rural Australia, we meet a lot of wonderful people who always welcome us into their towns while we install and upgrade essential wireless services,” said Brent. “I wanted to give something back to those areas especially in the current severe drought conditions.”

Through our Ventia Awards donations, we are supporting worthy causes across Australia and New Zealand and giving back to the local communities in which we operate.

A fundraising page has been set up at www.ventia.com/peopleschoice/ruralaid and we challenge everyone to be creative in how they might raise some additional funds for Rural Aid over the coming months. Every donation makes a difference!
