Follow our Critical Risk Protocols to stay safe for the life you love

Have you asked the right questions to keep yourself and others safe for life?

  • Do I have an approved Permit and the required rescue equipment before entering the space?
  • Am I trained in confined space entry?
  • Have I checked that the atmosphere in the space is safe?
  • Have I identified and isolated all the energy sources that can affect the space?
  • Do I have a competent standby person in place who knows how to respond if there is an issue?
  • Am I wearing all the required PPE (e.g. breathing apparatus)?
  • Have I confirmed effective communications are in place for when I am in the space?
  • Is there equipment in the space or nearby that can affect air quality in the space?

Mandatory Safety Rules

  • Obtain authorisation before entering a confined space

Confined Spaces Best Practices

Access Control Unauthorised entry is prevented (e.g. via signage, barricades) and a standby person in place when people are inside a confined space.
Rescue Appropriate rescue equipment and two-way communication protocols in place.
Fit for Purpose Equipment Equipment used in a confined space is approved by a competent person.
Competency Persons working in confined spaces or supervising work in a confined space, stand-by persons, rescuers and gas testers are certified as competent.
Risk Assessment Entry into a confined space requires written permit, including approved rescue plan & SWMS.
Safe Atomosphere Air quality checked prior to entry and periodically as per Permit, and suitable ventilation in place.
Energy Isolation Potentially hazardous sources of energy (solid, liquid, gas) affecting the confined space have been isolated.
