In this edition of Connect, we celebrate the achievements of our 2019 Ventia Awards winners and finalists.

The Awards, now in their third year, recognise the outstanding work that so many of our people do every day to deliver positive outcomes for our clients and communities.

This year’s finalists were selected from 200 nominations, with nearly 600 of our people nominated for recognition by their peers. There were many strong contenders but our finalists stood out above all.

Three threads run through their stories.

First, our finalists bring to work the passion and determination to make a difference. They make the daily lives of clients, colleagues and communities safer, better and more efficient.

Second, their stories highlight the breadth of what we do and the impact it can have on our clients, our communities and the environment. Whether it’s making workplaces or communities safer, bringing greater connectivity to rural and remote regions, or harnessing innovation to deliver low cost, quality solutions to clients, the impact is real and measurable.

Third, our brand values – in other words, what we stand for as a company – are evident in their stories.

Our finalists exemplify our talented and engaged workforce. They put safety and health above all else, create value for our clients and provide excellence in service delivery. They also bring technology to deliver new and innovative ways of working.

INTRODUCING THE 2019 VENTIA AWARDS WINNERS AND FINALISTS

Our Ventia Awards say a great deal about who we are as a company. From the nomination process through to the awards celebrations and beyond, the awards reflect our values, our inclusiveness and the passion of our people.

It began with the nomination process – where many of you nominated the great work of individuals and teams. It’s a task which required your time and thoughtful consideration. Yet, so many of you made the effort in order to draw attention to the achievements of those you’re working alongside, or those whose contribution you’ve admired from afar.

It was then up to our Awards Council, an impressive group of people from across the business, to carefully evaluate the nominations, spending many hours poring over the detailed submissions. Our confidence in their decisions was inspired by the integrity and care they brought to that process.

Decisions made, we then hosted our awards ceremony. It was really exciting to bring the webcast announcement live to our sites for the first time, and incredible to see such a genuine sense of shared pride in the achievements of our winners. The cheers I heard in Chatswood were reflected in the celebrations you held at your own sites.

There was plenty to cheer about. The achievements of our finalists, featured on the following pages, proved to be truly inspiring.

It’s fantastic that the impact of our awards will extend beyond the recognition of our passionate finalists. We will donate a total of $10,000 to charities nominated by our winning teams and individuals and an additional $5,000 to the People’s Choice charity chosen by all of you. This year the People’s Choice was Rural Aid. You can read about this on page 51.
